Statement
My work references the vast sea of historical ceramic vessels and plays with the unique purposes they have served — retrieving, storing, pouring, and bridging worlds. These familiar forms become a container in which I explore shape and line between two and three dimensions. This investigation begins with a dark clay body that I pinch, coil and paddle, and immediately becomes a register of my process; Each piece is an accumulation of tool marks, silhouette lines, slip brushstrokes, and fields of earthy terra sigillata. These physical layers invite touch and play, guide the eye and the hand, and toggle the mind between 3D form and 2D shape.
